Agbioscience careers begin with AgriNovus

By Andi Anderson

In Indiana, countless students studying in the sciences are often unaware of the myriad career paths available within the agbiosciences.

AgriNovus Indiana is stepping in to bridge this gap by guiding students toward fulfilling career opportunities in this field.

Bethanie Majewski, a biology student at Marian University in Indianapolis, shares her journey of discovery into the agbiosciences through AgriNovus Indiana's Field Atlas platform.

“Initially, I was uncertain if agbiosciences would suit me since I didn't grow up on a farm,” Bethanie explains. Yet, her participation in the Field Atlas ambassadorship, which includes company tours and interactions with industry leaders, ignited her passion for this sector.

Through the program, Bethanie and her peers have visited places like True Essence Foods, a chocolate and fruit processing plant, and Premier Companies, an agriculture and fuel business.

These experiences have broadened her understanding of the industry's scope. “I find the research and animal science aspects particularly intriguing,” she says, enthusiastic about the potential careers these fields offer.

The Field Atlas program provides insights into agbiosciences and facilitates direct connections with leading companies in the industry, such as Corteva Agriscience.

These connections are vital for students like Bethanie, who are now considering careers in research or other specialized areas within agbiosciences.

Bethanie’s story is just one of many. The program encourages students from various academic backgrounds to explore roles that align with their skills and interests, even in non-traditional areas like human resources within agbioscience companies.

AgriNovus Indiana's initiative exemplifies a successful approach to vocational guidance in the agbiosciences, helping students realize the extensive opportunities that the field offers.

By participating in the Field Atlas program, students are taking crucial steps towards impactful and innovative careers that continue to shape the agricultural landscape of tomorrow.
