A large coalition of over 100 agricultural organizations, including several from Indiana, have signed a letter supporting Dudley Hoskins’ nomination to serve as the next Under Secretary of Agriculture for Marketing and Regulatory Programs (MRP) at the USDA.
The Under Secretary for MRP oversees critical programs that support the fair marketing, quality, and safety of U.S. agricultural goods.
These responsibilities include managing agencies like the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), which impact both domestic and international agriculture markets.
Indiana-based organizations such as the Agribusiness Council of Indiana and Indiana Soybean Alliance joined national groups in praising Hoskins’ extensive experience in agricultural policy.
Supporters noted his background working with state agriculture departments, trade associations, and his prior service as Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary during a previous USDA term. His direct involvement with APHIS and AMS ensured policy efforts were implemented efficiently and effectively.
Hoskins also served as Senior Advisor to the USDA Secretary and as Counsel with the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, giving him a strong understanding of the legislative and operational needs of America’s farmers and agribusinesses.
The letter urges the Senate Agriculture Committee to move forward quickly with his nomination, emphasizing the importance of having a skilled leader in place to handle marketing, regulatory, and inspection responsibilities.
Indiana’s farm community stands with this broad coalition in supporting Hoskins as a knowledgeable, experienced leader committed to strengthening American agriculture.
If confirmed, Hoskins is expected to continue advocating for fair marketing, quality assurance, and strong partnerships that benefit both Indiana and the entire nation’s agricultural sectors.
