Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, alongside the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, unveiled a significant boost in high-speed broadband accessibility. The initiative, aided by the Indiana Connectivity Program (ICP), directs $637,346 toward connecting 175 addresses in rural regions.
The ICP, designed to bolster broadband access, particularly in remote areas, assists internet providers in extending services across underserved pockets of Indiana. Among the beneficiaries, SEI Communications was awarded $76,800 to expand broadband to 32 addresses within their service zones, spanning Dearborn, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland counties.
Expressing her commitment to equal opportunities for all Hoosier families, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch highlighted the pivotal role of reliable internet access in rural regions, fostering pathways to contemporary opportunities.
This program remains open for address submissions, offering a chance for Hoosiers without internet connectivity to express their interest via the Next Level Connections (Broadband) portal at in.gov/ocra/broadband. However, submission does not guarantee immediate service extension.
Broadband providers are required to complete their expansion projects within nine months of the contract date. For more details, interested parties can explore in.gov/ocra/broadband/icp. This joint effort aims to uplift rural communities by bridging the digital divide across the state.
