Purdue University’s College of Agriculture has welcomed nine accomplished professionals into its ranks of Distinguished Agricultural Alumni, recognizing their outstanding achievements, leadership, and contributions to agriculture, science, education, conservation, and public service.
The honorees represent a wide range of disciplines and have made significant impacts through research, innovation, education, industry leadership, and community engagement. Their careers highlight the important role Purdue graduates continue to play in advancing agriculture and natural resource management around the world.
Among the recipients is Kristin Floress, Research Social Scientist, U.S. Forest Service, whose work focuses on collaboration in natural resource management. Her research helps shape planning and decision-making processes across watersheds, forests, and complex landscapes. In addition to her federal role, she serves as an adjunct associate professor at Northwestern University.
Jacob Goheen, Professor, Iowa State University, has earned international recognition for ecological and conservation research. His work supports wildlife conservation efforts in North America and Africa while creating opportunities for students and researchers through partnerships and fellowship programs.
John P. Haven, Landscape Architect and Principal at LeBlanc Jones Landscape Architects, has built a respected career in landscape architecture. His award-winning projects have received praise for preserving and enhancing natural landscapes through thoughtful design and sustainable practices.
Jason Henderson, Vice President for Extension and Outreach at Iowa State University, has successfully combined expertise in agricultural economics, public policy, and higher education administration. He now oversees a large statewide outreach system that supports research and community development.
Andrew P. Michel, Professor and Associate Dean at The Ohio State University, is recognized for his work in entomology and insect pest management. His research and Extension efforts help farmers respond to agricultural challenges while supporting education and innovation.
Dianne Ripberger, Senior Director at PepsiCo, has contributed significantly to food and beverage innovation. She leads partnership initiatives involving universities, startups, and industry organizations while continuing to support academic programs and workforce development.
Matthew Ruark, Professor at the University of Wisconsin, is a leading soil scientist whose research focuses on nutrient management and sustainable agricultural systems. His work influences farming practices across the Midwest and beyond.
Kyle Shipman, Indiana State Veterinarian, has played an important role in animal health and disease response efforts. His leadership during animal disease outbreaks and commitment to mentoring students have strengthened veterinary and public service programs.
Lisa Jayne Vaillancourt, Professor at the University of Kentucky, leads internationally recognized research on fungal diseases affecting major crops. Her work has advanced scientific understanding of plant-pathogen interactions and supported the development of future scientists through mentorship initiatives.
Together, these nine alumni demonstrate excellence across diverse agricultural fields. Their achievements in research, education, conservation, public service, and industry leadership reflect the values of Purdue University’s College of Agriculture. By advancing knowledge, mentoring future generations, and addressing critical agricultural challenges, they continue to make meaningful contributions that benefit farmers, communities, industries, and the global agricultural sector.
