Tennessee's Roane Pork Processing Plant Receives FARM Boost

Tennessee's Roane Pork Processing Plant Receives FARM Boost

A new meat processing plant in Tennessee is set to open its doors next year, thanks to a $1 million grant from the state's Forestry, Agriculture, and Rural Markets cost share program (FARM).

The plant, which is being built by Roane Custom Beef and Pork, will be located in the Roane County Industrial Park in Rockwood, Tennessee. It will have the capacity to process up to 3,760 animals per year and will serve approximately 5,500 farmers in 17 counties.

The FARM cost share program was created to help businesses in the agriculture and forestry sectors. The inaugural round of funding provided over $18 million to 20 different entities. The Roane Pork plant is one of the first projects to be funded through the program.

The opening of the Roane Pork plant is a major boost for the local economy. It will create new jobs and provide a much-needed service to farmers in the region. The plant is also expected to help improve the sustainability and resilience of Tennessee's agriculture sector.

The FARM cost share program is a great example of how the state is working to support the agriculture and forestry industries. The program is helping to create jobs, boost the economy, and improve the sustainability of these important sectors.
