Dairy's Adopt a Cow program is a free educational program for classrooms. Students participating in the program learn about dairy farming by adopting a calf from a dairy farm.
The program lasts for the entire school year and includes online resources, activities, and live chats with dairy farmers.
Teachers can sign up their classrooms for the program until September 15. Classrooms receive photos, videos, and activity sheets throughout the year to track the progress of their adopted calf.
The program also offers virtual tours and chats with dairy farmers, allowing students to ask questions and learn about dairy production firsthand.
Last year, over 39,000 classrooms participated in the program, including schools from all 50 states and 38 countries. The program is open to schools in both rural and urban areas and is a great way for students to learn about where their food comes from.
Teachers who enroll in the program will receive an introductory update with information about their calf in the fall. Classrooms will receive bi-monthly updates with lesson plan suggestions throughout the school year.
