Hoosier Farm Leader Takes National Stage

By Andi Anderson

Mindy Orschell, representing District 8 of Indiana Farm Bureau, has been elected to the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Women’s Leadership Committee board during her first term at the 2024 AFBF National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The AFBF Women’s Leadership Committee is a vital platform that empowers women in agriculture through training and education, enabling them to become influential advocates for modern agricultural practices. Orschell, hailing from Brookville, Indiana, will serve as the representative for the Midwest Region, covering 12 states, including Indiana.

In addition to her role on the AFBF Women’s Leadership Committee, Orschell holds the position of District 8 education and outreach coordinator for Indiana Farm Bureau. Her responsibilities encompass representing INFB members in Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Fayette, Franklin, Johnson, Rush, Shelby, and Union counties.

Mindy Orschell and her husband, Greg, along with their children, actively farm corn, soybeans, and hay in Franklin County. Their farming operations also include a cow-calf operation and the sale of freezer beef.

Orschell’s term on the AFBF Women’s Leadership Committee board is set to run through January 2026. Her commitment reflects the dedication of individuals within the farming community to actively contribute to the development and advocacy of modern agricultural practices.
