Hoosier Hogs to Homes Supports Indiana Communities

Hoosier Hogs to Homes Supports Indiana Communities

By Andi Anderson

The Million Meals program, a partnership between Feeding Indiana's Hungry and Indiana Pork, has been renamed Hoosier Hogs to Homes. This transformation signals an expanded mission to provide ground pork to food pantries across Indiana, combating food insecurity and supporting families in need.

Since 2009, Indiana pig farmers have donated over 1.6 million ground pork meals to Hoosiers. The rebranded program aims to build on this legacy, delivering even more protein to communities statewide.

Jeanette Merritt, Director of Communication at Indiana Pork, shared, “Serving our community is a core value for Indiana pig farmers. Hoosier Hogs to Homes continues this commitment by ensuring food pantries receive vital ground pork donations.”

Protein is an essential part of a balanced diet, but it is often unaffordable for struggling families. Emily Weikert Bryant, Executive Director of Feeding Indiana's Hungry, emphasized the importance of this initiative, saying, “Indiana pig farmers’ generosity ensures families receive the protein they need to maintain a healthy diet.”

How to Get Involved

Farmers, businesses, and community members can support Hoosier Hogs to Homes by donating monetary funds or ground pork to local food pantries. Contributions play a vital role in expanding the program’s reach and impact.

For more information about the program, its transformation, or ways to participate, visit IndianaPork.org or contact Jeanette Merritt at jmerritt@inpork.org.

Indiana Pork represents nearly 2,800 pig farmers in the state, working to support communities and strengthen the agricultural economy. Learn more about their initiatives at IndianaPork.org.
