Indiana Farm Bureau (INFB) recently conducted its 2023 Spring Member Survey, receiving over 1,200 responses on issues such as land use, infrastructure, and trade. The survey revealed that 64% of members support renewable energy projects, but almost 70% oppose those projects on farmland. Respondents were concerned about farmland transitioning away from agriculture for renewable energy projects.
Over 95% of members agreed that they play an essential role in addressing food access or security. The survey also showed that over 60% of members have not seen improvements in broadband connectivity over the last year.
Roads and bridges were the next most significant infrastructure issues concerning members. The majority (88%) of members believe that the US should expand international trade for agriculture.
INFB President Randy Kron emphasized the importance of private property rights and the need to keep Indiana farmland in production. INFB was pleased with the high number of responses received and plans to consider the feedback to shape policies, programs, and events that meet members' needs.
