Indiana Grown Awards Trade Show Grants

Indiana Grown Awards Trade Show Grants

By Andi Anderson

Indiana's local food retailers are set to make a significant impact on the national stage, thanks to substantial support from Indiana Grown. Last week, the agriculture marketing firm, operated by the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, announced the awarding of $25,000 grants to seven companies.

These grants are strategically designed to cover various expenses associated with participating in trade shows, such as booth fees, travel costs, and other related expenses.

Trade shows are crucial for producers as they provide a platform to engage directly with potential clients and expand their market presence. The opportunity to interact face-to-face with buyers and showcase products is invaluable for businesses looking to grow and reach new audiences.

The recipients of these grants are among Indiana Grown’s 1,500 members, selected based on their readiness for commercial expansion and the potential impact of their participation in trade shows. The awarded companies include well-known local producers such as Tell City Pretzels, Tulip Tree Creamery, Bee Great, Cute as a Cupcake, Smoking Goose, Market Square Popcorn, and Old Major Market.

Specifically, Tulip Tree Creamery and Smoking Goose are planning to use their grants to participate in the prestigious Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City. Meanwhile, other grantees will attend the National Restaurant Show in Chicago and the Snacks and Sweets Expo in Indianapolis. These events are among the most significant in the food industry, offering extensive exposure to national and international buyers.

Indiana Grown's initiative not only supports the individual companies but also plays a vital role in promoting Indiana as a hub for high-quality agricultural and food products. By facilitating the presence of local retailers at major trade shows, Indiana Grown is helping to expand the state's reputation as a leader in the food industry, thereby fostering economic growth and the success of its agricultural community.

This strategic grant program highlights Indiana Grown’s commitment to enhancing the visibility and success of its members on a larger scale, paving the way for future growth and prosperity in Indiana's agricultural sector.
