Indiana Pork Recognizes Outstanding Contributions with Annual Awards

Indiana Pork proudly presented three prestigious awards to individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the pig industry. 

Producer Meritorious Service Award: Randy Salsbery, recipient of this esteemed award, operates a family farm with a team consisting of his wife, two brothers, sister, two sons, and two nephews. A graduate of Indiana University and a former CPA, Randy returned to the family farm and is actively involved in his church. His dedication to both his family and community makes him a deserving awardee. 

Industry Meritorious Service Award: Dr. Bill Beranek, recognized for his outstanding service, holds multiple advanced degrees and actively collaborates with entities such as the Indianapolis Water Company and the Indianapolis Sewage Company. As an environmental mediator, Dr. Beranek has played a crucial role in facilitating discussions between pig farmers and industry critics, fostering collaboration for sustainable growth. 

Contract Grower Award: Brian Homan, honored with the Contract Grower Award, exemplifies commitment in raising contract hogs in Pennville, IN for Oracle Pork. Brian's family-oriented approach to farming, involving his young children, showcases the essence of a true family operation. His dedication extends beyond business, creating a meaningful legacy. 

Indiana Pork also expressed gratitude to retiring board member Heather Hill from Hancock County for her years of dedicated service to the Indiana pork industry. 

Indiana Pork, a not-for-profit association, represents nearly 3,000 family pork farmers in Indiana through the pork checkoff program. The awards highlight the exceptional contributions of individuals like Randy Salsbery, Dr. Bill Beranek, and Brian Homan, shaping the success and sustainability of the pig industry.
