Indiana State Fair Celebrates 166 Years of Summertime Fun


The 166th edition of the Indiana State Fair has come to a close, leaving behind memories of 18 days filled with summer joy, competitions, learning, and entertainment. Hoosiers from across the state gathered to revel in cherished fair traditions, from delicious food to captivating exhibits, adorable animals, thrilling rides, and much more. This year's fair also introduced exciting new attractions, further enhancing the experience for all attendees.

One of the standout features of this year's fair was the grand unveiling of the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. This state-of-the-art facility played host to the State Fair Swine Competitions and was at the center of the Year of Basketball celebration.

Cindy Hoye, Executive Director of the Indiana State Fair Commission, expressed the significance of this year, saying, "This year marks such a special moment in our history. Not only did we unveil the World-Class, premiere livestock facility in the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion, but we also celebrated the State that Grew the Game of Basketball, with our great partners at Pacers Sports & Entertainment. 2023 was a remarkable and memorable year!"

Here are some highlights from the 2023 Indiana State Fair:

• Despite challenging weather conditions, the fair welcomed 840,414 visitors, marking a slight increase from the previous year.

• New safety measures, including the Minor Policy, were successfully implemented to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

• Fairgoers made the most of their day, with vendors and partners reporting record sales.

• Over 6,700 exhibitors showcased nearly 50,000 animal and non-animal projects, highlighting the talent and creativity of Indiana's residents.
