Napoleon secures $60,000 grant for water infrastructure planning

The town of Napoleon, Indiana, has been awarded $60,000 through the Water Infrastructure Planning Grants as part of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

This grant is part of a broader initiative announced by Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, where four Indiana communities will receive over $280,000 in planning grants. The funding aims to help communities develop comprehensive plans for long-term development and utility improvement projects.

Napoleon’s grant will support a detailed study of the town's drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. The primary goal of the Water Infrastructure Planning Grants is to enable communities to assess their current utility systems, identify pressing issues, and make informed decisions about future improvements.

By understanding the interconnectedness of these systems, communities can prioritize the most urgent needs and strategize for sustainable growth.

Lt. Governor Crouch, who also serves as Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasized the importance of maintaining strong infrastructure as communities grow.

“As communities across the state continue to attract more residents, it is important that they are maintaining a strong infrastructure,” she stated, highlighting the need for proactive planning in developing resilient community utilities.

The Planning Grant program encourages towns like Napoleon to involve experts and residents in the planning process, ensuring that the projects align with local needs and sustainability goals.

Grants this quarter will support efforts in downtown revitalization and water utility enhancements, focusing on creating a lasting impact on community development.

With the funds, Napoleon will engage in a comprehensive study of its water systems, identifying areas for improvement and setting a roadmap for future upgrades.

This initiative will allow the town to address critical water infrastructure needs, improve service delivery, and ensure the health and safety of its residents.

The grant not only provides financial support but also empowers Napoleon to build a sustainable future, enhancing its infrastructure while planning for long-term growth.

Through these efforts, the town is taking a significant step toward securing a more resilient and efficient water management system.
