Weekly Crop Reports Shows Increase in Soil Moisture Levels


Looking at crop conditions over the past week.

Corn silking neared completion with 64 percent of the crop rated in good to excellent condition.

Over half of Indiana’s soybeans were setting pods. Soybean condition was rated 65 percent good to excellent.

That’s all according to Nathanial Warenski, State Statistician, with the USDA, Indiana Field Office who released his weekly crop weather report saying that soil moisture levels increased from the previous week, with 68 percent of topsoil moisture reported as adequate or surplus.

The amount of rainfall varied from none to 2.29 inches over the week. The statewide average precipitation was 1.16 inches.

Livestock were reportedly doing well.
