Farmers Gain Insights at Wabash Field Day

By Andi Anderson

The Wabash County Field Day is an important agricultural event designed to share knowledge and practical insights with farmers. It will take place on August 19, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. EST at the Dairyland Seed location in the Central District. Registration for participants will be held between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

This event is organized to support farmers by providing the latest information on crop management and agricultural practices. Geoff Schortgen, ANR Educator, will serve as the main contact for the event, guiding participants and addressing their queries. His role highlights the importance of expert involvement in educating farmers and improving agricultural outcomes.

The field day will cover a wide range of topics that are highly relevant to modern farming. Farmers will learn about the placement of corn and soybean products, which helps improve crop growth and yield. Another key focus will be disease tolerance and resistance in crops, which helps farmers protect their plants from harmful infections.

Nutrient management will also be discussed, including micronutrient applications and the use of sulfur and nitrogen in corn production. These nutrients play a vital role in plant health and productivity. Participants will also gain knowledge about corn fungicide applications, which help in controlling fungal diseases and maintaining crop quality.

In addition, the event will introduce the use of biological products in farming. These products are becoming popular as they support sustainable agriculture. High-yield concepts will be shared to help farmers increase their production efficiently.

Market analysis will provide valuable information about current trends, helping farmers make better selling decisions. The event will also include updates on the 2026 ESA regulatory changes, ensuring that farmers stay informed about new rules and policies.
