Fort Wayne Hosts Annual Farm Education Show

Fort Wayne Hosts Annual Farm Education Show

By Andi Anderson

The Fort Wayne Farm Show serves as a major education and trade event for farmers, students, and agribusiness professionals across Indiana. The three day show brings together industry leaders, educators, and service providers to share knowledge, tools, and career opportunities.

The show features a large trade exhibit floor with farm equipment, products, and services from manufacturers and distributors. Educational sessions are hosted by Purdue Extension and Northeast Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts and take place near the main exhibit area.

Several learning sessions are offered each day. Topics include market outlooks, farm weather trends, animal health, pesticide safety, and farm planning. Purdue Extension educators and market specialists lead many of the sessions to help farmers make better business and management decisions.

Safety training is a major focus. Sessions cover pesticide handling, anhydrous ammonia safety, and biosecurity practices for livestock owners. Training also supports farmers who want to earn or prepare for pesticide applicator licensing.

Farm Bureau sponsors a special luncheon where legal and farm policy topics are discussed. Seating is limited, and meals are offered on a first come basis. Additional evening programs focus on family and farm emergency planning to help farm families prepare for unexpected events.

Students and job seekers may look for “We’re Hiring” signs at vendor booths. These signs show career openings in agriculture, conservation, and natural resource fields. Purdue Extension and conservation district booths also offer local support information.

The event also encourages visitors to support youth agriculture by attending FFA auctions held on multiple days. These auctions help fund youth leadership and livestock programs.

The Fort Wayne Farm Show continues to serve as a trusted place for learning, networking, and business growth. It helps strengthen farm operations, improve safety, and support career development across Indiana’s agricultural community.
