Indiana Energy Webinar Sparks Smarter Strategies

Indiana Energy Webinar Sparks Smarter Strategies

By Andi Anderson

The increasing demand for electricity across Indiana, especially from data centers and other high-load users, has created new challenges for planners and community leaders.

To help address these needs, a free online event titled Indiana Energy Landscape Webinar – R-STEP will take place on December 17, 2025, from 11:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. IST. This session aims to strengthen understanding of how energy systems work and how they influence local development decisions.

The webinar focuses on practical, easy-to-use guidance for evaluating energy capacity and working effectively with utility providers. As communities grow and technology-driven industries expand, planners must consider energy availability early in the development process.

This session will explain how energy policies, infrastructure limits, and coordination strategies shape development opportunities at the local level.

The program is part of the College of Agriculture Extension and is supported by Purdue University’s Forestry & Natural Resources Department.

The event is designed to help participants develop greater confidence in making planning decisions that align with energy resources, sustainability goals, and community needs.

There is no cost to attend, but advance registration is required on the event webpage. Participants can also find additional information about the webinar when registering.

Purdue University maintains a strong commitment to providing equal access to all educational programs. The institution’s policy ensures that all people have equal opportunity without discrimination based on race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other protected categories. Materials can also be provided in alternative formats upon request.

Attendees are reminded that product references in the webinar or related materials are not endorsements, and individuals must follow manufacturer directions when using any mentioned products.

For questions or assistance, participants may contact Kayla Wright at 317-275-9261 or knwright@purdue.edu.

This webinar supports planners, community leaders, and professionals seeking clearer understanding of Indiana’s evolving energy landscape and the decisions needed to plan for a reliable and sustainable future.
