Indiana Farm Bureau's 2024 Book of the Year, "My Family’s Corn Farm," authored by Katie Olthoff and illustrated by Joe Hox, was unveiled at the INFB’s 2023 State Convention. This educational gem, part of the Agriculture in the Classroom program, chronicles Presley's journey and her family's corn farming adventures, emphasizing the significance of corn in American agriculture.
The book paints a vivid picture of farming practices, from planting and harvesting to using modern technologies and addressing corn-related products. It serves as an insightful companion to the 2022 Book of the Year, "My Family’s Soybean Farm."
Recognizing corn's vital role in Indiana's agricultural landscape—where it's a top crop and a $3.28 billion industry—this year’s selection aims to raise awareness among children.
Led by the INFB Women’s Leadership Committee, an extensive campaign will promote the book across Indiana’s counties throughout 2024.
"My Family’s Corn Farm" was crafted by authors with farm roots, Katie Olthoff and Joe Hox. It offers a platform for Ag in the Classroom volunteers to engage classrooms, fostering discussions about modern farming. INFB provides educational materials for teachers wishing to integrate the book into their curriculum.
INFB’s initiative bridges education and agriculture, following its successful Book of the Year program since 2017.
