Indiana farmers will soon benefit from a digital upgrade. Governor Mike Braun has signed his first bill into law, creating a centralized online portal designed to support Hoosier farmers.
The bill, HEA 1149, passed with strong bipartisan support and aims to simplify how farmers interact with government agencies.
The portal will be managed by the Indiana State Department of Agriculture and is expected to launch using its current budget. It will act as a one-stop digital resource where farmers can easily access tools and information related to agriculture.
“On this online portal, farmers can see regulatory checklists, access technical support, see available grants and make their voices heard on federal regulation that affects them,” said Governor Braun. He emphasized that the platform will help reduce confusion and make necessary agricultural information more accessible.
The portal is expected to be a valuable tool for farmers seeking guidance on regulations, funding opportunities, and support services. It will include regulatory checklists, details on grant programs, and feedback channels for farmers to express concerns about federal rules affecting agriculture.
The idea behind the legislation is to make government processes more efficient and less time-consuming for the agricultural community. With farmers already managing busy operations, the state hopes this portal will ease their burden by providing a streamlined way to find necessary resources.
By using existing funds and the state agriculture department’s infrastructure, Indiana aims to provide farmers with digital access to essential services without creating new costs.
As Indiana continues to support its farming community, this initiative highlights the state’s commitment to modernizing agriculture through technology and transparency.
