Knox County Farm Chosen as Indiana State Fair Featured Honoree

Knox County Farm Chosen as Indiana State Fair Featured Honoree

By Andi Anderson

The Indiana State Fair has announced the farm families selected as Featured Farmers for the 2026 fair season. This special program recognizes farms from different regions of the state and highlights the wide variety of agricultural products grown and raised in Indiana.

A total of 15 farm families have been chosen for this honor. Each family represents a unique part of Indiana agriculture, including grain farming, livestock production, produce growing, and plant cultivation. The program is designed to help fair visitors better understand where their food comes from and the hard work involved in farming.

Among the selected farms is P.E. Brocksmith and Son Farm from Knox County. This family farm focuses on growing corn and soybeans, two of Indiana’s most important crops. Their selection reflects the strong role grain farming plays in supporting the state’s agricultural economy.

Other featured farms come from across Indiana. Some grow soybeans, fruits, and vegetables, while others raise beef cattle, hogs, poultry, or produce flowering plants. Together, these farms show the diversity of modern agriculture and the many ways farmers contribute to food production and environmental care.

The Indiana State Fair will take place from August 7 through August 23 in Indianapolis and will be closed on Mondays. Each day of the fair, one featured farm will be highlighted. Farm families will participate in scheduled conversations with visitors at the Glass Barn, a popular education space focused on agriculture and innovation.

These daily sessions give fairgoers the chance to meet farmers face to face, ask questions, and learn about farming practices in a friendly and engaging setting. Fair leaders believe these interactions help build trust and understanding between farmers and the public.

The Featured Farmers program is supported by partnerships that value education and community connection. Organizers say the goal is not only recognition but also learning, especially for students and families visiting the fair.

A complete list of the selected farms and their products is available on the Indiana State Fair website, offering visitors more information before attending the event.
