The Senate has approved a resolution introduced by Senators Chris Coons and Todd Young to establish National FFA Week from February 15-22, 2025.
This resolution recognizes the contributions of the National FFA Organization in shaping young leaders through agricultural education.
The resolution also marks the 75th anniversary of President Harry S. Truman signing the bill that provided a federal charter for FFA. This highlights the long-standing impact of FFA programs in preparing students for careers in agriculture and leadership roles.
Senator Coons emphasized the importance of FFA programs in helping students understand modern agricultural challenges and future opportunities.
Senator Young added that FFA equips students with essential skills for success in various fields. The resolution received support from several senators who recognize the significance of agricultural education.
National FFA Advisor Dr. Travis Park noted that National FFA Week serves as a reminder of the importance of leadership development and community engagement in agriculture. He emphasized that the event fosters inclusivity, strengthens industry connections, and highlights the growing demand for skilled professionals in agriculture.
In Delaware, there are 42 FFA chapters with nearly 4,430 members. The FFA organization plays a crucial role in preparing students for careers in agriculture, science, business, and leadership.
A companion resolution has also been introduced in the House of Representatives, further solidifying bipartisan support for National FFA Week. By recognizing FFA’s contributions, lawmakers aim to encourage more students to explore careers in agriculture and leadership, ensuring a strong future for the industry.
