The Department of Animal Sciences has announced the recipients of its 2025–26 academic scholarships, distributing a total of $72,200 to both incoming and current students.
These awards are made possible by the continued generosity of donors who are committed to supporting the next generation of leaders in agriculture.
Incoming students were among the first to be recognized for their accomplishments. The Eric B. and Fran Luckman Award went to Amber Henigin, while the Charles L. and Jean Rueff Scholarship was awarded to Landon Barr and Taylor Schmitt.
Current students also received strong recognition through a wide range of awards. Scholarships included the Robert W. Baltzell Scholarship, given to Charlie Cummings, Abigail Johnson, and Ashlynn Smith, as well as the Baumgardt Family Scholarship, awarded to Kendyl Brown and William Eberhart.
Other notable honors included the Blaine Crowl Memorial Scholarship for Gabrielle Deakins and Kayla Johnson, and the Howard L. Daugherty Memorial Scholarship presented to Avery Donaldson.
Several memorial and leadership awards were also highlighted. The John Henry Hinkle Memorial Scholarship went to Madelynn Etchinson, Reese Figus, and Emily Mawhorter, while the R. L. Hogue Award was given to Jenna Bowe.
Additional honors included the Emerson J. Kuhn Scholarship, the Rothenberger Leadership Award, the Paul E. Newman Scholar Award, and the DeKryger Family Scholarship, among many others.
The Department emphasized that these scholarships not only reward hard work and dedication but also help relieve financial pressures, enabling students to pursue their education and future careers in animal sciences.
A full list of scholarships and eligibility requirements is available through the Department of Animal Sciences website or the College of Agriculture’s Office of Academic Programs (OAP). These opportunities reflect the strong support system that continues to encourage student success within the agricultural field.
