A specialized grain postharvest workshop is scheduled to support farmers and agricultural professionals as they work to improve storage practices and strengthen pest management strategies.
The 2025 Grain Post-Harvest & Recertification Workshop will provide important training for individuals who manage grain systems and oversee quality and safety throughout the postharvest period.
The workshop is geared toward farmers, commercial grain storage handlers, food processing quality-control managers, and pest management professionals. Its purpose is to help attendees effectively manage grain after harvest, understand common pest challenges, and adopt modern, science-based solutions to protect stored crops.
The event will take place on December 3, 2025, from 7 PM to 3:15 AM IST, at the Beck Agricultural Center. Registration for the workshop is $140, and participants can register through Purdue’s outreach system.
The workshop is part of the educational offerings from the College of Agriculture and the Department of Agronomy, reflecting Purdue University’s commitment to supporting agricultural progress and professional development.
Throughout the event, speakers and instructors will introduce tools that help reduce pest risk, maintain grain quality, and ensure that stored crops remain safe for processing and consumption.
Attendees will learn how to choose appropriate pest-control methods and adopt integrated pest management (IPM) systems, which combine science, prevention, and monitoring to create long-term solutions. These strategies help maintain both economic value and food safety.
The workshop also serves as an opportunity for Indiana’s certified advisers to earn applied-for Continuing Certification Hours (CCH) credits. This makes the event valuable not only for learning but also for maintaining professional credentials in the agricultural sector.
By bringing together experts, farmers, and industry professionals, the workshop aims to strengthen knowledge across the state and support important steps in protecting grain after harvest. The training reflects the increasing importance of safe storage practices and the need for ongoing education as technologies and challenges evolve.
