Harrison County Hosts Winter PARP Agriculture Training Program

Harrison County Hosts Winter PARP Agriculture Training Program

By Andi Anderson

Farmers and agricultural professionals in southeast Indiana will have an opportunity to attend a winter agriculture education program focused on crop management and regulatory updates.

The Harrison County Ag Winter PARP program is designed to provide timely information that supports sound farming decisions ahead of the 2026 growing season.

The event will take place on February 13, 2026, at the Premier Ag Corydon Branch in Harrison County. The program will run from 9 am to 12 pm Eastern Time and is hosted as part of Extension education efforts in the Southeast District.

Participants are reminded that this program is also offered in Decatur Jackson and Washington counties later in February and attendees should participate in only one session to receive credit.

The agenda includes several important topics relevant to row crop producers. Sessions will address crop nutrient demands and hidden nutrient needs helping farmers better understand fertility requirements for strong yields.

Updates on red crown rot will provide the latest information on disease risks and management strategies. Herbicide use including glufosinate will also be discussed along with application considerations and stewardship.

In addition the program will feature a 2026 Endangered Species Act regulatory update. This session will help growers understand upcoming compliance requirements and how federal regulations may affect crop protection practices in the future.

These updates are especially important as regulations continue to evolve and impact farm operations.

The program is organized through Purdue University Extension and reflects its ongoing commitment to providing practical research-based education. Extension educators work closely with farmers to ensure information shared is relevant clear and useful in real world farming situations.

Local coordination and contact support for the event are provided by Ariel Camm Wilson an Agriculture and Natural Resources educator.

Farmers with questions about the program schedule location or participation details are encouraged to reach out in advance.

Overall the Harrison County Ag Winter PARP program offers a valuable opportunity for producers to earn required credits while gaining knowledge on nutrients disease management herbicides and regulations.

By attending farmers can better prepare for the challenges and decisions that come with the upcoming crop year and strengthen the sustainability of their operations.
