Indiana seeks nominees for 2024 AgriVision award

By Andi Anderson

The State of Indiana is currently seeking nominations for the 2024 AgriVision Award, a prestigious recognition celebrating its 18th year.

Established by the lieutenant governor and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA), this award honors those who have significantly contributed to maintaining Indiana as a leader in agricultural innovation and commercialization.

The AgriVision Award is open to any resident of Indiana involved in various sectors of the agriculture industry, including bioenergy, livestock, and agbiosciences.

Nominations can be made by any individual or organization and must be submitted by July 1, 2024.

“This award is a way to recognize those individuals who continue to push Indiana agriculture to new heights,” said Indiana’s Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. “It is my honor to serve as Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and to work alongside some of the best and brightest leaders in the state.”

“Indiana has many leaders that oversee agricultural production, business and technology across the state,” said Don Lamb, director of the State Department of Agriculture. “I look forward to honoring this year’s award recipients for their leadership and commitment to Indiana agriculture in August.”

To nominate someone, participants must fill out a nomination form available on the ISDA website and email it to the department.

The celebration and award presentation will take place at the Indiana State Fair in August 2024, hosted by Lt. Gov. Crouch and Director Lamb.

Previous winners of the AgriVision Award include pioneers who have developed new technologies, managed significant agribusinesses, and tackled global issues, truly embodying the spirit of advancement and leadership in agriculture.

These recipients have set high standards in the industry, from Beth Archer and Cindy Hoye in 2023 to Lawrence “Sonny” Beck in 2007.

The AgriVision Award recognizes excellence and inspires ongoing innovation and dedication within the agricultural community, reinforcing Indiana's role as a global center for food and agricultural development.
