Purdue Extension is once again offering its annual Sprayer School to help farm applicators improve their knowledge and skills in crop chemical application.
The program is scheduled for January 30 and is designed for both new and experienced commercial and private applicators who work with row crops.
The one-day workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time at the Vincennes University Agriculture Center in southern Indiana. Lunch is included as part of the program.
The event focuses on practical learning that supports safe, efficient, and accurate use of field crop sprayers under local farming conditions.
Training topics will cover important areas such as sprayer safety, proper equipment maintenance, weed identification, and correct mixing of spray materials. Participants will also learn about tank compatibility, common application problems, and troubleshooting methods.
New technology will be discussed, including the use of drones in crop application. In addition, attendees will receive a regulatory update from the state office responsible for chemical oversight, helping them stay informed about current rules and compliance needs.
This workshop supports applicators who apply pesticides and fertilizers by improving their understanding of correct application methods. Proper sprayer use helps protect crops, people, and the environment while also reducing waste and improving farm efficiency.
The program is suitable for individuals seeking to strengthen their professional skills and meet industry standards.
Professional credits have been requested for commercial applicators and certified crop advisers, adding further value for those who need continuing education. A program fee is required, and advance registration and payment are necessary to attend. Registration must be completed by the stated deadline to secure a place.
Those interested in attending should complete the registration process online and follow payment instructions provided by Purdue Extension. Participants with questions or who need billing support are encouraged to contact the local extension office for assistance.
Overall, Purdue Sprayer School provides a valuable learning opportunity for applicators to build confidence, follow regulations, and apply crop products safely and effectively.
