Vigo County Hosts PARP Training for Southwest District Producers

By Andi Anderson

Vigo County will host a Professional Agricultural Risk Program (PARP) training session designed to support farmers and agricultural professionals in making better crop management and safety decisions.

The program will take place on January 7, 2026, in the Southwest District at The Equity facility in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The training session will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. For participants following India Standard Time, the program will be accessible from 3:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. This evening schedule allows working producers to attend while gaining important knowledge for the upcoming growing season.

The event will cover several key topics that are directly related to crop production and farm safety. These include the use of weather tools for making farm decisions, the importance of sulphur in crop nutrition, current fertilizer market updates, and regulatory updates under the 2026 Endangered Species Act. Together, these topics provide a strong foundation for planning fertilizer use, managing risk, and staying compliant with updated agricultural regulations.

The training will be led by Tabatha Flinn, an Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator with Purdue Extension. She represents the Botany and Plant Pathology department and brings professional experience in agricultural education and outreach.

Participants will benefit from her guidance on practical methods that can be applied on farms of all sizes.

The Equity, located at 1001 IN-246 in Terre Haute, Indiana, will serve as the event venue. The location offers convenient access for producers in Vigo County and surrounding areas.

Farmers and agricultural professionals interested in attending are encouraged to register or seek additional details by contacting Tabatha Flinn at 812-462-3371 or via email at carroll@purdue.edu.

This PARP training program offers valuable learning opportunities that help improve crop nutrition planning, strengthen safety practices, and support informed decision-making.

By learning about fertilizer markets and updated environmental regulations, producers can better prepare for the challenges of the 2026 growing season.

Overall, the Vigo County PARP session highlights the continued commitment of extension services to provide reliable education, promote farm safety, and encourage responsible agricultural practices throughout the Southwest District.
