Wells County Hosts Nutrient and Safety PARP Training Event

By Andi Anderson

Wells County will host a Nutrient and Safety PARP training program designed to provide important education for agricultural producers and professionals. The event will take place on January 7, 2026, at the Wells County Community Center in Bluffton, Indiana.

The program will be held in the East District and will focus on practical topics that support safe and responsible farming practices.

The training session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. For participants in India Standard Time, the session will be accessible between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. This schedule allows a broad range of attendees to benefit from the information shared.

Key topics to be discussed during the program include safe handling of anhydrous ammonia, crop nutrition planning for the 2026 growing season, and regulatory updates related to the Endangered Species Act.

These subjects are especially important as farmers prepare for planting and fertilizer applications while also ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

The event will be led by Bill Horan, an Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator with Purdue Extension. He brings experience in botany and plant pathology and will guide participants through current best practices and regulatory information.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn practical methods that can help protect workers, improve crop performance, and maintain compliance with updated rules.

The Wells County Community Center is located at 1240 4-H Park Road in Bluffton, Indiana. The venue provides a convenient location for local producers and agricultural professionals to attend and engage in learning.

Those interested in participating are encouraged to confirm their attendance in advance. RSVP can be completed by calling 260-565-3196.

For additional questions or clarification, participants may contact Bill Horan at 260-824-6412 or through email at horan@purdue.edu.

This Nutrient and Safety PARP program serves as an important educational opportunity for the local farming community. By offering clear guidance on fertilizer safety, crop nutrition strategies, and regulatory updates, the training helps farmers make informed decisions, reduce risk, and support sustainable agricultural practices.

Overall, the event reflects the continued commitment of extension services to provide reliable and practical education that strengthens farm safety, improves productivity, and supports responsible land management across Wells County and surrounding areas.
