The Randolph County Davis Purdue Agricultural Center will host an important field day event on September 2, 2026. The program will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. EST, with registration starting earlier at 7:30 a.m. This event is designed to provide useful knowledge and practical learning opportunities for farmers, students, and agriculture professionals.
The field day will be held at the Davis Purdue Ag Center, located at 6230 IN-1 in Farmland, Randolph County, Indiana. It is part of the East District and aims to bring together experts and participants to discuss modern farming practices and research developments.
Jessica Thurman, Grant ANR Educator, will serve as the contact person for the event. Interested participants can reach her by phone at 765-651-2413 or through email at jthurman24@purdue.edu for further details or registration information.
The event will cover a wide range of important agricultural topics. One of the main sessions will focus on soil fertility, including research on phosphorus (P) and potassium (K), which are essential nutrients for crop growth. Understanding soil health helps farmers improve crop yields and maintain sustainable farming systems.
Another important topic will be pest and fertility management in regenerative farming. This session will explain how farmers can use eco-friendly approaches to manage pests while improving soil quality. These methods support long-term sustainability and environmental protection.
Participants will also learn about UAV requirements in Indiana. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, also known as drones, are becoming increasingly popular in agriculture. They help farmers monitor crops, manage fields, and collect valuable data more efficiently.
Weed management research and corn pest management will also be discussed. Experts will share new strategies for controlling weeds and pests, which are major challenges for farmers. Additionally, a growing season analysis session will provide insights into crop performance during different stages of growth.
The event will also include a 2026 ESA regulatory update to inform farmers about new environmental guidelines and policies affecting agriculture.
Overall, this field day will offer practical knowledge, research updates, and hands-on learning experiences. It will help farmers stay informed about modern techniques and improve their farming practices effectively.
