Senator Jim Banks of Indiana recently praised the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s new appointments for leadership roles in Indiana.
These appointments include Steve Howell as the State Director for Indiana Rural Development and Steve Brown as the State Executive Director of the Indiana Farm Service Agency.
The announcement was made by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, who emphasized the administration’s “Farmers First” mission. “President Trump is putting Farmers First, and so is the incredible team we are building,” said Rollins.
She highlighted that the new appointments are dedicated to helping farmers and rural communities thrive across the country.
Senator Banks expressed his strong support, stating, “President Trump and Secretary Rollins are putting America’s farmers first. Steve Howell and Steve Brown will help our farmers get the support they need and ensure Indiana’s agriculture industry remains strong for a long time to come.”
Steve Howell brings a wealth of public service experience. He previously worked as Director of Community Affairs for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and served as Deputy District Director for Congressman Mark Souder. He also manages responsibilities on his family’s farm in Jay County, Indiana.
Steve Brown returns to the USDA as the State Executive Director for FSA, a position he held during the previous Trump administration.
With over 40 years of farming experience and 32 years as a USDA employee, Brown has served in Porter and Carroll counties and at the state level. In 2023, he was inducted into the Carroll County Agricultural Hall of Fame for his longstanding contributions.
These appointments reflect a commitment to strong leadership and agricultural expertise. Both Howell and Brown are expected to continue supporting Indiana farmers and ensuring rural communities benefit from key USDA programs and services.
