USDA Boosts Indiana Farms with Available Grants for Market Growth

USDA Boosts Indiana Farms with Available Grants for Market Growth

By Andi Anderson

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Indiana invites applications for grants supporting agricultural producers in optimizing their product value and exploring new markets. Under the Value-Added Producer Grants program, eligible applicants, including independent producers, agricultural groups, cooperatives, and producer-based businesses, can receive up to $75,000 for planning activities and up to $250,000 for working capital expenses related to marketing value-added agricultural products.

These grants empower farmers and ranchers to create innovative products, develop marketing opportunities, and boost their incomes through value-added activities. Planning activities may involve feasibility studies and business plan development, while working capital expenses cover processing, marketing, advertising, inventory, and salaries.

USDA is keen on applications aligned with Biden-Harris Administration priorities, focusing on reducing climate pollution, ensuring equitable access to Rural Development programs, and aiding rural economic recovery through improved market opportunities and infrastructure.

To apply, submit paper applications by April 16 via mail, email, or in person to the relevant state office. Electronic applications are accepted until April 11 via Grants.gov.

For more details, refer to page 2,919 of the Jan. 17 Federal Register or contact your local USDA Rural Development office. Invest in your farm's future with USDA grants for expanded markets and increased value. Apply now!
