Indiana's River Friendly Farmers to be Honored Today



River Friendly Farmer Awards Ceremony sponsored by Indiana Farm Bureau, the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts along with the 92 Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Indiana will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in the 4-H Exhibit Hall Auditorium, 2nd floor.

Forty-eight farmers and landowners will be honored for their conservation practices and protection of Indiana's waterways.

Also attending the ceremony will be:

- Emcee: Lais McCartney, Purdue Extension, Hancock County

- Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch

- Randy Kron, President, Indiana Farm Bureau

- Jerry Raynor, State Conservationist, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service

- Bobby Hettmansperger, President, Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts

River Friendly Farmer recipients attending this year's ceremony are from the following counties: Adams, Allen, Dearborn, Decatur, Dubois, Elkhart, Fulton, Gibson, Jefferson, Knox, LaGrange, Miami, Morgan, Newton, Perry, Pulaski, Putnam, Spencer, St. Joseph, Sullivan, Switzerland, Tipton, Union, Wabash, Warren, Wayne, Wells, and Whitley.

The Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (IASWCD) works at a state level to promote and enhance conservation through legislative advocacy, public outreach, and support of our 92 -member SWCDs in their local work. The IASWCD represents the interests of local Districts as one voice, and assists their leadership through coordination and education for the wise use and management of our natural resources.
