The Walton Farm in Hendricks County recently received a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award for being in operation since 1918, according to State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) and State Sen. John B. Crane (R-Avon).
“I have great respect for those who dedicate their livelihoods to farming,” Thompson said. “I grew up helping on a small family farm, and have worked with both livestock and crops. It’s very rewarding work, but it comes with a lot of challenges. I commend these families for their endurance and wish them continued success.”
Farms owned and maintained by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial Hoosier Homestead awards.
“It is great to see hardworking Hoosiers get the recognition they deserve,” Crane said. “Congratulations to the Walton Farm for your generations of success and I hope you see many more.”
