The Indiana Grazing School is back, offering grazing enthusiasts an opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills. With two locations and two dates to choose from, this informative event promises to cover a wide range of topics related to successful grazing practices. Organized by the Indiana Forage Council in collaboration with the Purdue Agronomy Department, the Indiana Grazing School will provide participants with insights from knowledgeable speakers who will address key issues in pasture improvement and livestock grazing. Keith Johnson, Purdue Extension forage specialist, expresses excitement about the impressive lineup of topics and speakers, ensuring a rewarding experience for attendees.

Topics to be covered include soil fertility, plant identification, and strategies for improving species diversity and forage quality in pastures. Participants will also have the chance to delve into practical aspects such as watering systems, fencing options, and alternative grazing systems that promote efficiency. Additionally, animal health will be emphasized as a crucial factor in maintaining productive grazing systems.

The first school will take place at the Southern Indiana Purdue Ag Center (SIPAC) on June 9-10, while the second school will be held at the Randolph County Extension office on June 16-17. Each school will feature sessions on Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (local time).

Registration is $75 per person, with a discounted rate of $50 for additional individuals from the same farm. To secure your spot, make sure to register by June 2.
